2023-24 Junior Championship

2024-03-03

2023-24 Junior League Champions

RJ Concrete and Construction OILERS are Junior League Champions!

Congrats to RJ Concrete and Construction OILERS on their 2-0 victory over the Wanson Lumber Jets for the title of Junior League Champions! The Junior division season ended on Saturday with lots of excitement and three great games. The first game of the day saw the Canadians and Knights face off in a battle for fifth which after a scoreless first period, early in the second Wyatt Farwell of the Canadians scored his first of three goals in the game for a natural hat trick resulting in a number of hats landing on the ice. The Knights continued to press throughout with chances on all three lines, but the Canadians goalie Levi Kaoma shut the door making save after save for the shutout. The Canadians secured the 4-0 win with a final goal mid-way through the third period by Kalob Ten Have.

The second game of the day, the Junior division Consolation Final was a matchup of the Sharks vs. the Penguins which also started off with a scoreless first. Parker Ramage of the Penguins scored his first of two along with another Penguin goal scored by Owen Copetti for a three-goal lead early in the third. Late in the third when it looked like the potential for another shutout on the day, the Sharks Henry Silvaggio was able to score the only goal against Penguins goalie Kay Ramage. The Penguins held on for a 3-1 victory finishing third and winning Bronze.

The Championship Final finished off the day with the Jets vs. the Oilers. Another defensive battle which through two and a half periods the game was still scoreless and many wondering if it would need extra time to decide a winner. But with less than 4 minutes to go, the first goal of the game and eventual game winner on his birthday was scored by Colton Mulligan, followed up by one more Oiler goal from Hayden Bakker to secure the win. Oilers goalie Alex Balina kept the Jets without a goal for the shutout with Jets goalie Edmund Andersen also outstanding making save after save as the Jets were outshot three shots by the Oilers to every one shot by the Jets. The Oilers won the Championship Final 2-0 in a great finish to the Northwood Hockey League Junior division 2023-2024 season.

Congratulations to all the teams, players, coaches, managers, and parents for cheering loud & being proud. A showcase of great goals, defensive plays, outstanding goaltending, and a number of celebrations!
