ShareLeafs Score 3 in Last Period For First Win
2014-10-25
Jaykwon nets another pair....The Investors Group Leafs opened the scoring in the second period of their game against the LTL Contracting Flyers. Tyrese Whitehead (55) picked up the puck at center ice on a pass from brother Pacey and managed to fight his way past three Flyers defenders and get a shot off. The Flyers goalie partially blocked the wrister with his glove but it trickled in for our first lead of the season. The Flyers staged a quick comeback with 2 goals in the same shift late in the period.
Midway through the third period our leading scorer Jaykown Wapoose (16) notched his 3rd goal of the season from behind the net. Liam Gibson (17) got his first goal of the season also from behind the net for the game winner. The Flyers goalie had allowed only 1 goal in 30 shots last weekend so hopefully the team learned to shoot from anywhere.
With just over a minute to go Zach Winter (34) waited just inside our blueline for the Flyers to rush in and then slipped a pass up to Jaykown who broke in for some added insurance and his 4th of the season.
Jerrell Wapoose (77) had a great game in the net and both our first and second lines line kept the Flyers off the board. Things are looking up.
Thanks to Curtis Dudley for the pizza and drinks after the game. I told the 2nd and 3rd lines when we were tied 2-2 and down 14 shots to 12 that if we didn't outshoot the Flyers I was going to eat all the pizza. They must have been hungry because they scored 2 quick goals and we outshot the Flyers 18-14.
